El Portal, Florida Residence

The most important aspect in the design of this residence was stormwater management. The water on site was pooling up along the backside of the house which was creating many problems for the client. The design mitigated for this through elevation changes throughout the back through the design of a deck, retaining walls, swales, and a rain garden. The plant material selected is mostly native to promote habitat and to best deal with stormwater. The front of the house features a private dining space separated from the street as well as a rock garden as requested by the client.
